Boston sold Togo Palazzi's player rights to the Syracuse Nationals for cash.

Slater Martin helped St. Louis reach two Finals and win the 1958 championship, narrowly outweighing Willie Naulls’s four All-Star seasons for New York.

Atlanta acquired Slater Martin from Knicks in exchange for Willie Naulls.

Atlanta acquired cash from Nationals in exchange for Bob Harrison.

New York captured the stronger long-term value when Minneapolis sent Slater Martin for Walter Dukes, Burdette Haldorson and the later Phil Jordon consideration.

Detroit acquired Red Rocha from Philadelphia 76ers for cash.

Detroit acquired Billy Kenville from Philadelphia 76ers for cash.

Boston acquired the draft rights to Bill Russell from the St. Louis Hawks for six-time All-Star Ed Macauley and the rights to Cliff Hagan. Russell became the foundation of eleven Celtics championships, while Macauley and Hagan helped St. Louis win the 1958 title. Boston still wins because Russell changed the scale of the franchise and the league, but the Hawks earned a strong return.

Detroit won the deal, acquiring Gene Shue for Ron Sobieszczyk.
