← All transaction yearsBrooklyn Nets / Golden State Warriors
The partner finished with a modest edge. The Warriors acquired Dennis Schröder; 2025 second round pick (Heat pick; protected top 37) (#41-Koby Brea) from Brooklyn Nets for De'Anthony Melton; Reece Beekman; 2026 second round pick (Hawks pick) (outcome unknown); 2028 second round pick (Hawks pick) (outcome unknown); 2029 second round pick (outcome unknown).
Indiana Pacers / Miami Heat
Indiana acquired Thomas Bryant for only a future second-round swap right, adding needed center depth during a season that ultimately reached the NBA Finals.
Charlotte Hornets / Minnesota Timberwolves / New York Knicks
Knicks Win. New York earns A+ because Towns became a core piece of the 2026 championship team. Minnesota receives A- for Randle, DiVincenzo and the future first, a package that preserved high-level present value and future optionality. Charlotte receives B for converting facilitation into multiple seconds and cash without sacrificing a core player. Knicks Win is decisive, but the return quality prevents this from being graded as a disaster for Minnesota. New York now owns the strongest realized outcome. Towns became a championship starter, and the Knicks won the 2026 NBA title with Towns as a major scorer, rebounder and passer alongside Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby. A title does not automatically make every acquisition an A+, but acquiring a core championship big without surrendering Brunson, Bridges, Hart or Anunoby is exactly the kind of realized value that justifies the top grade.

Even Trade. New York gained immediate veteran shooting and depth for a playoff run, and Bogdanovic’s contract later became part of the package used to acquire Mikal Bridges. That makes the Knicks side more valuable than a short rental snapshot would suggest. Detroit received the larger quantity of assets, including Grimes and two second-round picks. Grimes was later moved to Dallas for Tim Hardaway Jr. and three future seconds, extending Detroit’s asset chain rather than ending the value after a few months.
