Slight Spurs Edge. San Antonio receives A for acquiring and extending Fox and reaching the 2026 Finals. Chicago earns A- for recovering its lottery first while adding usable veterans and clearing LaVine. Sacramento receives B+ because LaVine plus six draft picks is a serious return, but the premium picks have not yet produced enough realized value to match San Antonio's leap. Slight Spurs Edge is the appropriate current verdict. San Antonio holds the narrow lead because it acquired an in-prime All-NBA-caliber point guard without surrendering Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell or its most important young core. Fox signed a long-term extension and helped the Spurs reach the 2026 NBA Finals. The Finals ended in a loss to New York and Fox had uneven stretches, so the outcome is not an A+ championship conversion. Still, acquiring a long-term lead guard for a package built mainly from picks and non-core players delivered exactly the competitive leap San Antonio was pursuing.
