Trade Analysis
The Schrempf-McKey trade is a good example of an even deal that worked for different reasons on each side. Schrempf became an All-Star in Seattle and remained the more accomplished offensive player, while Derrick McKey gave Indiana size, defense, playmaking and matchup flexibility for years on teams that repeatedly advanced deep into the playoffs. Gerald Paddio was a minor part of the return. The Pacers did not clearly win the talent comparison, but McKey's fit and longevity made the exchange highly functional. An Even Trade verdict better reflects the realized value than forcing either side into a loss.
