Memphis received Dexter Pittman; 2013 second-round pick (#60-Janis Timma); cash and sent rights to Ricky Sanchez. The Grizzlies’ return produced the stronger hindsight value after player production, draft conversion, role, contract timing and downstream asset use were considered. The advantage is modest: Memphis either acquired the best individual contributor, recovered superior draft capital or reduced the heavier long-term cost. Miami Heat still received identifiable value, which is reflected in the other team grade rather than treated as a zero-return side.
