Miami acquired Chris Bosh from Toronto in a sign-and-trade that returned two first-round picks and a large trade exception to the Raptors. This was distinct from the simultaneous LeBron James transaction and deserves its own evaluation. Bosh sacrificed individual usage, expanded his defensive responsibilities and eventually became a floor-spacing center who was essential to Miami’s switch-heavy championship style. The Heat reached four consecutive Finals and won titles in 2012 and 2013 with Bosh as a foundational piece. Toronto recovered legitimate draft value, including its own 2011 first, but Miami received years of All-Star-level production and the exact star fit needed to complete a historic contender.
