The exchange is best treated as broadly even once role, timing and asset quality are considered. Milwaukee received Mel Davis and gave up 1979 conditional second round pick (not exercised?). On a hindsight basis, most of the value rests in the players and assets that actually changed hands. The grade also accounts for transaction scale and whether the outgoing package contained premium first-round or established-player value. The assets exchanged supports only limited confidence in this assessment.
