Trade Analysis
Houston won the deal by landing the best player by a wide margin. Steve Francis shared Rookie of the Year honors, became a three-time All-Star with the Rockets and averaged 19.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.2 assists across five Houston seasons before becoming a centerpiece of the 2004 Tracy McGrady trade. Vancouver still extracted a respectable package despite Francis refusing to play there: Michael Dickerson averaged 18.2 points in 1999-00, Othella Harrington averaged 13.1 points and 6.9 rebounds, and the Grizzlies also received draft value. Orlando fared worst, surrendering a first-round pick and a second-round pick while receiving a group that produced little lasting value for the Magic.
