Green Bay sent veteran end Stretch Elliott and a 1956 draft choice to Los Angeles for tackle Tom Dahms in August 1955. Dahms immediately solved a major offensive-line shortage and started all 12 games for the Packers that season. The Rams turned the pick into A.D. Williams and received Elliott, but Green Bay got the most dependable immediate value.

Green Bay acquired defensive end Willie Davis from Cleveland on July 12, 1960 in a straight player-for-player swap for receiver A.D. Williams. Davis became a Hall of Famer, a five-time NFL champion with the Lombardi Packers, and the longtime captain of a dynasty defense. Williams played only two more NFL seasons and caught 14 passes after the trade, creating an enormous value gap.
