Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers Win Tier: major Confidence: high

San Diego sent star receiver John Jefferson to Green Bay in 1981 and received Aundra Thompson, a first-round swap, additional first- and second-round choices, and another future second. The Chargers repeatedly recycled those assets into later moves, including the package for Wes Chandler. Jefferson remained productive in Green Bay, but San Diego extracted substantially more total roster-building value.

New York selected tight end Glenn Dennison, who started nine games and caught 16 passes for 141 yards in 1984 but had little later NFL production. San Diego received short-term defensive-line depth and later moved Neil for another pick. Neither side created a lasting advantage.
