The Jets acquired running back Thomas Jones and the 63rd pick from Chicago for the 37th pick, effectively moving down 26 spots in Round 2 to add a proven starter. Jones then rushed for more than 1,100 yards in each of his three Jets seasons and led the AFC with 1,312 yards in 2008. New York later used No. 63 as part of the move for David Harris, multiplying the deal's value.
The Jets jumped from No. 63 to No. 47 in the 2007 draft and selected linebacker David Harris, also receiving No. 235, while Green Bay collected Nos. 63, 89 and 191. Harris became a decade-long defensive leader for New York, starting 147 games and topping 1,000 career tackles. Green Bay found useful contributors in Brandon Jackson, Aaron Rouse and Korey Hall, but none matched Harris's sustained impact.
