Dale Hackbart NFL Trade History

Detroit acquired tackle Ollie Spencer from Green Bay in July 1959. Ken Russell was initially part of the return, but after Russell left Packers camp the obligation was replaced by Detroit's 1960 fifth-round pick, No. 51, used on Dale Hackbart. The settled exchange therefore became Spencer for No. 51, and Green Bay's eventual draft return produced the stronger value.

Minnesota acquired tight end Bob Brown and cornerback Nate Wright from St. Louis for Mike McGill, Dale Hackbart and a future fourth-round choice. Wright became the decisive asset: he developed into a durable starter for Minnesota’s championship-era defenses, while Brown supplied short-term depth. The Cardinals received only modest playing value from McGill and Hackbart, leaving Minnesota with the stronger realized return.

Denver sent Clem Turner and Jack Gehrke to Buffalo on May 2, 1973 for a future draft choice. Draft records identify the return as Buffalo's 1974 tenth-round pick, No. 251 overall. Denver later sent that selection to St. Louis for safety Dale Hackbart, who appeared in three Broncos games with two starts. That modest downstream return exceeded Buffalo's realized value.

Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos exchanged 1974 tenth round pick (#251-Greg Hartle) for Dale Hackbart. Hackbart had been a long-time NFL defender, but his Denver stay was brief.
