Minnesota sent pick No. 94 to Tampa Bay for Nos. 102 and 180. The Buccaneers used No. 94 on Alex Cappa, who developed into a starting right guard and played on the 2020 Super Bowl championship team. Minnesota drafted Jalyn Holmes at No. 102 and later moved No. 180 in another trade, but the resulting branch produced far less Vikings value than Cappa delivered in Tampa Bay.
Minnesota moved up for kicker Daniel Carlson and also received Devante Downs, while New York obtained picks that became Folorunso Fatukasi and Trenton Cannon. Carlson’s later All-Pro career came with the Raiders, not the Vikings: Minnesota waived him after two games following early kicking struggles. Fatukasi developed into a useful Jets defensive lineman, so the original Vikings grade badly over-credits success that occurred only after Carlson left Minnesota.
