Green Bay acquired Pro Bowl punter Ron Widby and defensive back Ike Thomas from Dallas shortly before the 1972 season for a future second-round choice. Widby punted well for two Packers seasons, but Dallas used the 1973 pick, No. 46, on receiver Golden Richards, who became a productive multi-year Cowboy. Richards' longer direct value gives Dallas the stronger return.
Chicago acquired wide receiver Golden Richards. He started 14 games for the Bears in 1978 and caught 27 passes for 379 yards, then added 107 yards and a touchdown in five games during 1979. That produced immediate offensive value. The longer view produces a B- grade for Chicago Bears. Chicago earns a B- and Dallas a C+.
