Dallas moved up three spots in the 2008 first round and selected cornerback Mike Jenkins at No. 25, sending Seattle picks 28, 163 and 235. Jenkins became a Pro Bowler in 2009 and started 48 games for Dallas. Seattle used the return on Lawrence Jackson, Owen Schmitt and Brandon Coutu, but none delivered comparable value, turning a modest move-up into a clear Cowboys win.

Seattle traded Lawrence Jackson to Detroit for a 2011 sixth-round pick and selected Byron Maxwell. Jackson was productive for the Lions, recording 13 sacks in three seasons despite never starting a game there.
