Kansas City sent cornerback Nate Allen to San Francisco for veteran lineman Randy Beisler and a 1976 third-round pick. Beisler's Chiefs contribution was cut short by a neck injury, but Kansas City used No. 63 on Keith Simons, who started 12 games over two Chiefs seasons. Allen played all 14 games for the 49ers in 1975 with three starts and a pick-six. The extra draft return gives Kansas City a narrow edge.
Minnesota acquired defensive backs Windlan Hall and Nate Allen from San Francisco for offensive lineman Steve Lawson and a 1978 sixth-round choice. Allen immediately started 11 games and intercepted three passes for the Vikings in 1976. That useful secondary return gave Minnesota real value without producing a decisive advantage.
