Kansas City moved from No. 8 to No. 6 in the 2002 draft to take defensive tackle Ryan Sims, sending Dallas the eighth pick, a third-rounder and a 2003 sixth-rounder. Dallas used the centerpiece on safety Roy Williams, a five-time Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro, while Sims never developed into comparable impact. The extra selections make the Cowboys' side even stronger in hindsight.

Tampa Bay acquired defensive tackle Ryan Sims from Kansas City in May 2007 for a conditional 2009 seventh-round pick. The condition was tied to Sims spending at least six games on the Buccaneers' active roster in 2008 and was satisfied. Kansas City later returned the right to that pick to Tampa Bay in the Michael Bennett trade, while Sims appeared in 46 games and made 19 starts for the Buccaneers from 2007 through 2010.
