Kansas City acquired linebacker Wayne Simmons during the 1997 season for a 1998 fifth-round pick. Simmons gave the Chiefs short-term defensive help and remained on the roster into 1998, but Green Bay used the pick on Corey Bradford. Bradford became a nine-year NFL receiver with 3,346 yards and 25 touchdowns, including productive seasons for the Packers. Green Bay converted a veteran departure into the stronger long-term asset.
