1973 first round pick (#14-George Amundson)
Atlanta acquired veteran defensive tackle Mike Tilleman from Houston for the Oilers' own 1973 first-round selection, No. 14 overall. Tilleman became a multi-year Falcons starter and provided four seasons of dependable interior defensive play. Houston used the premium pick on George Amundson, whose Oilers tenure produced only 194 career rushing yards and five starts.
Houston acquired linebacker Duane Benson. Atlanta received the 1975 third-round selection used on running back Woody Thompson, who played 35 NFL games and rushed for 877 yards. The Falcons turned a veteran into a top-65 draft choice and then received several seasons of offensive production from that selection. Houston's return did not match the value Atlanta realized from the pick.
Atlanta acquired linebacker Guy Roberts from Houston in exchange for Dennis Havig on September 6, 1976. Roberts recorded an interception for the Falcons, while Havig gave the Oilers one season of reserve work. Neither side found major long-term value, but Atlanta received the slightly stronger on-field return and earns a narrow win after correcting Roberts' identity.
1997 6th round pick (165th overall subsequently traded, Nick Savoie)
Atlanta acquired quarterback Chris Chandler from the Houston Oilers in 1997 for the 98th and 165th selections. Chandler became a Pro Bowl quarterback and led the 1998 Falcons to the franchise's first Super Bowl appearance, giving Atlanta an enormous return from two mid-round picks. His championship-season peak made the veteran acquisition one of the most productive outcomes in the exchange.
Atlanta acquired veteran guard Andy Levitre from Tennessee for a 2016 sixth-round pick and a future conditional selection. The move became a strong fit in Kyle Shanahan's offense: Levitre immediately started at left guard, remained a regular starter for three-plus seasons, and helped anchor the line during the Falcons' 2016 run to Super Bowl LI. Tennessee recovered modest draft value but gave up the better player outcome.
Atlanta sent Julio Jones and a 2023 sixth-round pick to Tennessee for a 2022 second and conditional 2023 fourth. Jones played only 10 regular-season games for the Titans, catching 31 passes for 434 yards and one touchdown before being released after one season. Atlanta used the second-rounder on Troy Andersen and later moved the fourth-round asset. Andersen's injuries limited his ceiling, but the Falcons still recovered far more durable value than Tennessee received.
