2000 5th round pick (150th overall subsequently traded, John Milem)
Detroit traded veteran quarterback Scott Mitchell to Baltimore for the 72nd pick in 1999 and a 2000 fifth-round selection. The Lions later moved both picks in separate transactions, preserving flexibility without drafting directly from either slot. Mitchell joined a Baltimore quarterback room that also added Tony Banks and never became a long-term starter, leaving both clubs with modest realized returns.
Detroit traded picks No. 74 and No. 101 to Baltimore for No. 61 and selected safety Gerald Alexander. Alexander gave the Lions useful early starting snaps but did not become a long-term fixture. Baltimore selected Yamon Figurs at No. 74 and later packaged No. 101 with two other choices to acquire No. 86, where it drafted future All-Pro guard Marshal Yanda. Because other picks were required, Yanda cannot be credited solely here, but Baltimore created the stronger overall value.
Detroit acquired Haloti Ngata and Baltimore's 2015 seventh-round pick, No. 231, while the Ravens received Detroit's fourth-round No. 122 and fifth-round No. 158. Baltimore used No. 122 on Za'Darius Smith; Nos. 158 and 231 were later moved again. Detroit landed a proven star, but Baltimore's younger, cheaper return and Smith's value give the Ravens the stronger outcome.
