Minnesota sent veteran lineman Everett Lindsay to Baltimore during the 1999 draft and received the 185th selection, a sixth-round pick used on defensive lineman Talance Sawyer. Lindsay started all 16 games for the Ravens in 1999, while Sawyer developed into a rotational Vikings defender and recorded 11 career sacks. Both clubs obtained real, useful value, making an even B- result more fitting.
Minnesota moved down six spots in the third round of the 2004 draft, sending Baltimore pick No. 82 and receiving Nos. 88 and 155. The Ravens chose receiver Devard Darling, while the Vikings selected defensive lineman Darrion Scott and linebacker Rod Davis. Scott became a regular rotational defender, giving Minnesota the better overall return.
2012 1st round pick (29th overall, Harrison Smith)
Minnesota sent picks No. 35 and No. 98 to Baltimore for No. 29 in the 2012 draft and selected safety Harrison Smith. Smith became a six-time Pro Bowler, first-team All-Pro and long-term defensive leader for the Vikings. Baltimore used the incoming selections on Courtney Upshaw and Gino Gradkowski, both useful contributors, but neither matched Smith's peak or longevity.
2019 3rd round pick (102nd overall, Alexander Mattison), 2019 6th round pick (191st overall, Marcus Epps) and 2019 6th round pick (193rd overall, Oli Udoh)
Minnesota sent pick No. 93 to Baltimore and received Nos. 102, 191 and 193. The Vikings selected Alexander Mattison, Marcus Epps and Oli Udoh, extracting several seasons of useful roster value from the three selections. Mattison served as Dalvin Cook’s primary backup before becoming the starter in 2023, while Udoh provided multi-position offensive-line depth. Baltimore used No. 93 on Miles Boykin, whose receiving impact remained limited.
Minnesota sent Baltimore a 2020 fifth-round pick for kicker-punter Kaare Vedvik after his strong 2019 preseason. Vedvik struggled after the trade and was waived before the regular season, so he never appeared in a game for the Vikings. Baltimore converted a specialist unlikely to make its roster into draft capital that later became defensive tackle Broderick Washington.
Minnesota traded picks No. 201 and No. 219 in the 2020 draft to Baltimore for No. 225 and a 2021 fifth-rounder. The Vikings selected Kenny Willekes and later Zach Davidson; Baltimore used its choices on James Proche and Geno Stone. Stone became the difference-maker, developing into a productive safety and recording a seven-interception season for Baltimore in 2023. Minnesota's return never approached that level of impact.
Minnesota sent Yannick Ngakoue to Baltimore after only six games, receiving a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 fifth. The Ravens got three sacks in nine regular-season games before Ngakoue left in free agency. Minnesota used the third-rounder on Patrick Jones II, who recorded 12 sacks across four Vikings seasons, including seven in 2024, while the fifth became part of later draft movement. The Vikings clearly recovered more value.
