Seymour gave the Panthers useful secondary depth, appearing in 29 games over two seasons and making several starts. • Kelvin Benjamin

Carolina Panthers received

  • 2018 3rd round pick (85th overall, Rashaan Gaulden)
  • 2018 7th round pick (234th overall, Andre Smith)

Carolina sold Kelvin Benjamin at the right moment, sending the former first-round receiver to Buffalo for 2018 third- and seventh-round picks. Benjamin never regained his early Carolina production and was released by Buffalo the following season. The Panthers turned a declining veteran into two draft assets, later using those selections on Rashaan Gaulden and Andre Smith, and avoided carrying the receiver through the rest of his downturn.

Carolina Panthers received

  • Marshall Newhouse

Buffalo sent veteran tackle Marshall Newhouse to Carolina for a future conditional seventh-round pick that became No. 236 in 2021. The Bills eventually used that selection on Jack Anderson, but he did not become a meaningful Buffalo regular-season contributor. Newhouse gave Carolina immediate offensive-line insurance during an injury-hit season, so the Panthers received slightly more realized value.
