1997 5th round pick (157th overall subsequently traded, Nicholas Lopez)
Carolina acquired Raghib 'Rocket' Ismail from the Raiders for a 1997 fifth-round pick. Ismail became a productive multi-year Panthers receiver and peaked with 69 catches, 1,024 yards and eight receiving touchdowns in 1998. The Raiders received a future fifth-round selection that was later traded. Carolina turned a modest draft asset into a genuine starting offensive weapon, giving the Panthers the clear advantage.
Carolina sent Oakland pick No. 202 for No. 216 and a 2010 sixth-rounder. The Panthers selected Captain Munnerlyn and, a year later, Greg Hardy. Munnerlyn became a long-term starting nickel corner and returner, while Hardy produced 34 sacks in five Carolina seasons, including 15 in 2013. Oakland selected Brandon Myers, who became a productive starting tight end. The Raiders got real value, but Carolina's two-player return was exceptional.
Carolina and Oakland swapped recent fourth-round picks, with the Panthers receiving offensive lineman Bruce Campbell and the Raiders acquiring running back Mike Goodson. Campbell never developed into a meaningful Panthers contributor. Goodson gave Oakland useful rushing, receiving and return production during the 2012 season, creating the clearer realized on-field return from an otherwise modest player-for-player exchange.
Carolina acquired wide receiver Louis Murphy from Oakland for a 2013 seventh-round pick. Murphy spent one season with the Panthers and provided rotational receiving work at a minimal acquisition cost. Oakland later moved the acquired selection instead of turning it into a meaningful direct Raiders contributor, leaving Carolina with the more tangible immediate football return from a low-stakes transaction.
Carolina paid picks No. 124, 161 and 242 to Oakland to move up 22 spots for tackle Daryl Williams at No. 102. Williams became a multi-year Panthers starter and earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2017. Oakland created useful depth and later turned No. 124 into Nos. 128 and 218, but none of that return matched Williams' peak value. The aggressive move up worked exactly as Carolina hoped.
2022 7th round pick (227th overall subsequently traded, Nick Muse)
Carolina sent linebacker Denzel Perryman and a 2022 seventh-round pick to Las Vegas for a 2022 sixth-rounder. The Panthers eventually used that sixth on offensive lineman Cade Mays, but Perryman immediately became a centerpiece of the Raiders' defense, posting a career season and earning Pro Bowl recognition in 2021. That immediate high-level production gives Las Vegas the stronger return despite Carolina landing a useful later pick.
