Carolina Panthers received 1995 1st round pick (29th overall, Blake Brockermeyer) in the 1995-04-22 exchange with Los Angeles Chargers. Brockermeyer became a multi-year Carolina starter and gave the expansion club useful offensive-line stability. The stronger overall return belongs to Los Angeles Chargers. The transaction still produced a concrete basis for the hindsight grade.
Carolina and the Chargers agreed on a straight Russell Okung-for-Trai Turner swap on March 4, 2020, with the move processed when the league year opened on March 18. Both veterans provided limited one-season value for their new clubs. Neither side created a durable advantage, so the fairest hindsight result is an even trade with matching lower grades.
Carolina acquired defensive tackle TeRah Edwards from the Chargers for a 2028 sixth-round pick on August 30, 2026, pending physicals when the teams announced the deal. Edwards had not appeared in a regular-season game but produced a strong 2026 preseason and gave the Panthers another young interior defender. The price is meaningful for an unproven player, so Carolina gets credit for addressing depth while accepting real projection risk.
