Trade 1

September 5, 1999

Philadelphia Eagles Win
Carolina Panthers D+
Philadelphia Eagles B

Carolina Panthers received

  • 2001 7th round pick

Philadelphia Eagles received

  • Luther Broughton

Carolina Panthers received 2001 7th round pick while Philadelphia Eagles received Luther Broughton. Carolina received a 2001 seventh-round selection that became No. 227 Mike Roberg. The pick generated essentially no regular-season Panthers value, leaving Carolina with little to show for moving a player who immediately found a role elsewhere. That outcome supports a D+ grade for Carolina Panthers in this trade.

Trade 2

April 26, 2008

Philadelphia Eagles Win
Carolina Panthers C-
Philadelphia Eagles B+

Carolina Panthers received

  • 2008 1st round pick (19th overall, Jeff Otah)

Philadelphia Eagles received

  • 2008 2nd round pick (43rd overall subsequently traded, Tyrell Johnson), 2008 4th round pick (109th overall, Mike McGlynn) and 2009 1st round pick (28th overall subsequently traded, Eric Wood)

Carolina traded up from No. 43 to No. 19 in the 2008 draft for right tackle Jeff Otah, sending Philadelphia picks 43, 109 and a 2009 first-rounder. Otah was excellent when healthy and started immediately, but repeated knee problems limited him to 29 career games. Philadelphia gained valuable draft flexibility and later used the future first as part of the Jason Peters acquisition, giving the Eagles the better return.

Carolina Panthers Win
Carolina Panthers B-
Philadelphia Eagles F

Carolina Panthers received

  • Torrey Smith

Philadelphia Eagles received

  • Daryl Worley

Carolina acquired veteran receiver Torrey Smith from Philadelphia for cornerback Daryl Worley in March 2018. Smith played 11 games for the Panthers that season, catching 17 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns while providing veteran depth. Philadelphia released Worley in April after an arrest, before he played a regular-season snap for the Eagles. Even modest production made Carolina the clear winner of the direct exchange.

Trade 4

April 30, 2021

Philadelphia Eagles Win
Carolina Panthers B
Philadelphia Eagles A-

Carolina Panthers received

  • 2021 3rd round pick (70th overall, Brady Christensen)

Philadelphia Eagles received

  • 2021 3rd round pick (73rd overall, Milton Williams)
  • 2021 6th round pick (191st overall, Tarron Jackson)

Carolina moved from No. 73 to No. 70 in the 2021 draft and selected offensive lineman Brady Christensen, sending Philadelphia pick 191 as part of the swap. Christensen became a versatile multi-year Panthers starter, so Carolina received legitimate value. Philadelphia selected defensive tackle Milton Williams at 73 and Tarron Jackson at 191; Williams later became a major championship contributor, giving the Eagles the stronger overall return.

Trade 5

Even Trade
Carolina Panthers C+
Philadelphia Eagles C+

Carolina Panthers received

  • a 2027 7th round pick

Philadelphia Eagles received

  • Andy Dalton

Carolina Panthers received a 2027 7th round pick, while Philadelphia Eagles received Andy Dalton. Carolina agreed on March 18, 2026 to send veteran quarterback Andy Dalton to Philadelphia for a 2027 seventh-round pick, with the transaction becoming official after Dalton completed his physical on March 24. Because the pick and Dalton's Eagles tenure remain unresolved, the long-term result is still open. That outcome supports a C+ grade for Carolina Panthers, a C+ for Philadelphia Eagles, and a Even Trade verdict.
