Cincinnati acquired safety Reggie Nelson from Jacksonville for cornerback David Jones and a conditional future pick that ultimately became the Jaguars' 2012 seventh-round selection, No. 228. Jacksonville used that choice on Jeris Pendleton. Nelson developed into a long-term Bengals starter and eventual Pro Bowl safety, while Jones and Pendleton supplied only limited Jacksonville value. Cincinnati turned a modest package into a major secondary piece.
