Dallas Cowboys received
Allen Green
1962 sixth-round pick, No. 82 overall, used on George Andrie
New York Giants received
Joe Walton, acquired from Washington in the three-team exchange
Jim Podoley, acquired from Washington in the three-team exchange
Dallas emerged from the July 1961 three-team exchange with Allen Green and a 1962 sixth-round pick that became George Andrie. New York sent those assets out and received Joe Walton and Jim Podoley from Washington, while Washington absorbed Fred Dugan and other players. Andrie's long, decorated Cowboys career turned a modest-looking future choice into the deal's most valuable outcome.
Dallas acquired veteran defensive back Dick Nolan from New York on February 9, 1962 for the Cowboys' 1963 fifth-round choice. Nolan started all 11 games he played for Dallas that season at free safety, then moved to Tom Landry's coaching staff full time in 1963 and remained an assistant through 1967. The Cowboys therefore received both one season of starting defensive-back play and several additional years of coaching service from the transaction.
Dallas traded defensive tackle Jim "Rocky" Colvin to New York on October 11, 1967 for the Giants' 1968 fourth-round choice, No. 97 overall. The Cowboys used that selection on Missouri linebacker John Douglas, but Douglas spent 1968 on the military reserve list and never appeared in a Dallas regular-season game before being released in September 1970. Dallas therefore realized no regular-season production from the acquired pick.
New York acquired receiver Pete Gent from Dallas on June 13, 1969 for a conditional future draft choice. Contemporary transaction summaries state that the pick was not exercised, and the Giants waived Gent on September 8 before he appeared in a regular-season game. The deal therefore produced no on-field value for New York and no exercised draft compensation for Dallas.
1975 first-round pick, No. 2 overall, used on Randy White
1976 second-round pick, No. 40 overall, used on Jim Jensen
New York Giants received
Craig Morton
Dallas traded Craig Morton to New York in October 1974 for the Giants' 1975 first-round pick and 1976 second-rounder. The first became No. 2 overall and produced Hall of Fame defensive tackle Randy White; the second became Jim Jensen. Morton started for the Giants but won only eight games there before being moved again. White's championship career makes this one of Dallas's clearest historical trade victories.
1990 sixth round pick (#163, later traded to San Diego)
New York Giants received
Steve DeOssie
Dallas traded linebacker and long snapper Steve DeOssie to the New York Giants on June 2, 1989 for the Giants' 1990 sixth-round pick, No. 163 overall. Dallas later included that choice with two other sixth-rounders in a draft-day trade with San Diego for a 1991 third-round pick. DeOssie became a multi-season Giants contributor and played 61 regular-season games for New York from 1989 through 1993.
2026 7th round pick (221st overall subsequently traded, Jack Endries)
New York Giants received
2026 6th round pick (193rd overall, Jack Kelly)
Dallas received veteran defensive tackle Jordan Phillips plus a separate 2026 seventh-round choice. Phillips provided immediate roster utility, and the extra selection preserved a small amount of future value. The package is properly represented as two assets rather than one combined pick label. That result supports a C+ grade within the Dallas Cowboys Win verdict.
