Houston acquired running back Carlos Hyde from Kansas City for offensive lineman Martinas Rankin just before the 2019 season. Hyde responded with the first 1,000-yard rushing season of his career, carrying 245 times for 1,070 yards and six touchdowns. Rankin supplied Kansas City with useful line depth and five starts during the Chiefs' championship season, but Houston received the larger immediate football return.
