Jacksonville Jaguars Win
Jacksonville JaguarsA-
New York JetsB+
Jacksonville Jaguars received
1995 2nd round pick (40th overall, Brian DeMarco)
1995 3rd round pick (71st overall, Chris Hudson)
New York Jets received
1995 2nd round pick (33rd overall, Matt O'Dwyer)
Jacksonville moved down seven spots in the second round, sending No. 33 to the Jets for Nos. 40 and 71. New York selected guard Matt O'Dwyer, who became a four-year Jets starter. Jacksonville landed tackle Brian DeMarco and safety Chris Hudson; together they supplied 84 starts for the Jaguars. Both sides found real starters, but Jacksonville created more team-specific value from two selections.
Jacksonville received Alvin Pearman and Chad Owens. Pearman supplied backfield and return depth, while Owens had only a brief Jaguars tenure before continuing his career elsewhere. The two selections created some roster value but never produced a long-term starter or impact player. That limited return is difficult to match against Kerry Rhodes, who became an immediate and durable fixture in New York's secondary.
2012 7th round pick (214th overall subsequently traded, Tim Fugger)
Jacksonville Jaguars received Dwight Lowery in the deal with New York Jets. Lowery played three Jaguars seasons and started 23 of his 25 games from 2011 through 2013 while recording multiple interceptions. Jacksonville obtained sustained starting safety value for a very late pick. That outcome supports a A- for Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jacksonville Jaguars Win verdict weighs documented games, starts, production and connected draft value.
Jacksonville Jaguars received 2015 4th round pick (104th overall, James Sample); 2015 7th round pick (229th overall, Ben Koyack) in the 2015-05-02 exchange with New York Jets. James Sample's career was limited by injuries, but Ben Koyack became useful tight-end depth and caught the winning touchdown in Jacksonville's 2017 Wild Card victory. The direct package is the basis for the hindsight grade, with later movement of an acquired selection treated separately. That supports Jacksonville Jaguars Win.
Jacksonville Jaguars traded James Robinson to the New York Jets for a conditional 2023 pick that remained a sixth-rounder and became No. 185, Parker Washington. Robinson's Jets stint lasted only four games, while Washington developed into a useful Jacksonville receiver and return contributor. Turning a departing running back into a productive draft outcome gives the Jaguars an A- and the clear win.
