Allen recorded 85.5 sacks as a Viking, including 22 in 2011, and became the centerpiece of a contending defense. The acquisition cost was enormous, but Minnesota bought a star in his prime and got star-level performance for the full competitive window it was targeting.

Hunt immediately led the NFL with 1,327 rushing yards as a rookie and remained an explosive offensive weapon until the Chiefs released him during the 2018 season. Minnesota repeatedly traded the return and ultimately produced players including Jaleel Johnson, Stacy Coley, Rodney Adams, Danny Isidora and Jack Tocho, none matching Hunt’s peak impact.
