Philadelphia acquired veteran defensive end Gerry Philbin from Kansas City on May 17, 1973, with Leroy Keyes and Ernie Calloway moving to the Chiefs. Philbin gave the Eagles 13 games and six starts in his final NFL season. Keyes appeared in only three games for Kansas City, while Calloway spent the season sidelined, giving Philadelphia the better immediate return.
Kansas City traded rookie defensive tackle Cliff Frazier to Philadelphia on August 11, 1976, for two future draft choices. Those selections became the 1977 fourth-round pick used on Mark Bailey and the 1978 fifth-round pick used on Dwight Carey. Bailey produced 27 games and nine starts for the Chiefs, giving Kansas City the clearest lasting return from the exchange.
Philadelphia acquired veteran tight end Al Dixon from Kansas City for a 1985 sixth-round selection. Dixon played 10 games for the Eagles in 1983, made one start and caught four passes for 54 yards before being released in November. The contribution was modest and lasted only part of one season, but it was still measurable Eagles value. Kansas City's resulting draft choice did not produce a Chiefs regular-season player.
Kansas City sent the 50th pick and a 1996 sixth-rounder to Philadelphia in 1995 for receiver Victor Bailey and pick No. 112. The Chiefs later rerouted No. 112 to New England for a 1996 third-round selection that helped produce defensive lineman John Browning. Bailey added receiving depth, while Browning developed into a durable 121-game NFL defender.
Kansas City acquired veteran offensive lineman John Welbourn from Philadelphia for a 2004 fifth-round pick used on Thomas Tapeh and a 2005 third-round pick used on Ryan Moats. Welbourn started 39 games for the Chiefs over four seasons, while Philadelphia turned the picks into two offensive role players who also contributed during the mid-2000s.
Kansas City moved down one spot from No. 31 to No. 32 and added pick No. 164, selecting Josh Simmons at No. 32 while Philadelphia chose Jihaad Campbell at No. 31. Campbell started 10 games and played all 17 as a rookie; Simmons started all eight games he played. Both teams landed first-round contributors, but the Chiefs gained the extra fifth-round asset for almost no movement.
