New York sent fullback Dan Doornink to Seattle on August 21, 1979, for the Seahawks' 1980 seventh-round selection, No. 179 overall, used on defensive back Darry "Bud" Hebert. The Giants received a real draft asset, but Doornink became a durable Seattle contributor, so the late-round return did not match the value Seattle received from the player.
Seattle acquired cornerback Terry Jackson from New York on March 12, 1984, for a 1984 fifth-round pick used on Jeff Pegues and a 1985 sixth-round pick used on Mark Pembrook. Jackson played all 32 games over two Seahawks seasons, intercepted four passes in 1984 and returned one for a touchdown. The Giants' two selections did not produce comparable team value.
The Giants sent picks 37, 132 and 142 to Seattle to move into the end of the 2019 first round for cornerback Deandre Baker. Baker started 15 games as a rookie but was waived before his second season and never provided the long-term value New York expected. Seattle used the return to continue trading down and also selected Ugo Amadi and Ben Burr-Kirven, producing much more roster value from the package.
Seattle sent the Giants a 2024 second-round pick and 2025 fifth for Leonard Williams, then re-signed him after the season. Williams has become a defensive centerpiece, recording four sacks in 10 games after the trade, 11 sacks in 2024 and seven more in 2025. New York used the picks on safety Tyler Nubin and lineman Marcus Mbow, who have combined for 27 starts. Both sides did well, but Williams’ sustained impact now gives Seattle the edge.
