Cleveland's acquired No. 182 pick later joined Greg Newsome in the package for Tyson Campbell, who started 12 Browns games in 2025 and remained a starter in Week 1 of 2026. New York received 17 games, eight starts and four sacks from Jowon Briggs, then used No. 242 with another pick to move up for Anez Cooper. The Jets' direct production creates a narrow B- to C+ win.

Trade Analysis

The Exchange

Cleveland sent Jowon Briggs and Buffalo's 2026 seventh-round pick to New York in August 2025 for the Jets' 2026 sixth-round choice. Those picks became Nos. 242 and 182. Neither club simply selected the player ultimately listed at its acquired slot: Cleveland moved No. 182 in a later veteran trade, while New York packaged No. 242 to move up in the 2026 draft.

Cleveland Browns Return

The Browns paired No. 182 with Greg Newsome II in October 2025 and sent both to Jacksonville for Tyson Campbell and a seventh-round pick. Campbell then started all 12 games he played for Cleveland in 2025, recording 53 tackles, 12 passes defended, an interception returned 34 yards for a touchdown and a forced fumble. He remained a Browns starter in Week 1 of 2026. That is valuable downstream production, but No. 182 cannot receive full credit because Newsome was also required.

New York Jets Return

New York received the cleaner direct return. Briggs played all 17 games in 2025 and started eight, finishing with 38 tackles, four sacks, eight tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hits and a forced fumble. The Jets also converted No. 242 rather than using it on Deven Eastern. They paired 242 with No. 199 and sent both to Seattle for No. 188, selecting guard Anez Cooper.

Value in Hindsight

Cooper remains too early to grade as an NFL player. He made the Jets' 2026 roster ecosystem but is listed on reserve and had no regular-season appearance through Week 1. No. 242 was also only one of two outgoing picks, so it cannot be credited with all of Cooper's eventual value. Even after those limits, Briggs' full 2025 season and four sacks give New York more realized direct production than Cleveland received from the sixth-round asset by itself.

Final Verdict

New York receives B- and Cleveland receives C+, producing a New York Jets Win. Briggs is the strongest directly attributable asset so far. Cleveland deserves credit because No. 182 helped facilitate the Campbell acquisition, but the grade stays below New York's because Greg Newsome was a substantial additional cost. The Cooper branch remains explicitly too early and proportionally credited.
