New York acquired linebacker Ed Weisacosky from San Francisco…
New York acquired linebacker Ed Weisacosky from San Francisco on August 28, 1967 for a conditional draft choice that became the Giants' 1968 eighth-round pick, No. 206. Weisacosky made the Giants, appeared in all 14 regular-season games and started four. Because the condition was satisfied, San Francisco received the pick and used it on tackle Charley Brown, who never appeared in an NFL regular-season game.

Trade Analysis
The August 28, 1967 transaction can be reconstructed more precisely than the legacy row. Pro Sports Transactions records San Francisco sending linebacker Ed Weisacosky to the Giants for a conditional draft pick payable if Weisacosky made New York's team. Its 1968 draft-trade ledger identifies the resulting selection as the Giants' eighth-round choice, No. 206, and notes that Giants media-guide history lists an eighth-round pick going to San Francisco. Pro Football Archives separately identifies No. 206 as a San Francisco selection obtained from the New York Giants. Those sources support one player going to New York and one conditional future pick going to San Francisco; the duplicate undisclosed-consideration assets in the old row are not part of the verified package.
The condition was clearly met. NFL and Pro Football Reference records show Weisacosky appearing in all 14 Giants games in 1967, with four starts at left linebacker. His Approximate Value was modest, but he was a real defensive contributor for the full season rather than a camp body. New York's roster and period box scores also place him in the lineup, including an early-season start against St. Louis. Weisacosky left the Giants after that season and continued his career with Miami and New England, so the Giants received only one year of value from the trade. Even so, that year produced substantially more than zero.
San Francisco's return became tackle Charley Brown at No. 206 in the 1968 draft. Pro Football Reference's 49ers draft history and Pro Football Archives both identify Brown as the No. 206 selection acquired from New York. Brown did not appear in an NFL regular-season game, so the 49ers realized no on-field return from the pick. The club did receive the exact compensation contemplated by the trade once Weisacosky made the Giants, but the eventual selection failed to create roster value.
The hindsight result favors New York. Weisacosky's 14 games and four starts amount to limited one-season value, so the Giants do not deserve an aggressive grade. Still, a season of usable linebacker play is clearly better than a draft choice that produced no NFL regular-season appearances. A C+ for New York and D for San Francisco captures that modest but real edge while keeping the trade's small scale in view.
