Denver's historical transaction ledger states that the Broncos obtained quarterback Scott Brunner from the Giants in exchange for their 1984 fourth-round pick, which New York used on Gary Reasons. Pro Sports Transactions maps the same deal to selection No. 105, while an April 26, 1984 UPI report describes the fourth-round compensation as the Giants and Broncos finalized the move. Denver acquired Brunner as veteran insurance behind John Elway after moving Steve DeBerg. The plan never produced regular-season quarterback value.
