1994 NBA Trades

Washington acquired Chris Webber from Golden State for Tom Gugliotta and three first-round picks. Webber became a perennial All-Star and franchise centerpiece before later producing his best years in Sacramento.

Miami added Kevin Willis and a future first, but Atlanta’s return was driven by Steve Smith, who became an All-Star and the deal’s best long-term asset.

The realized-value outcome leaned Warriors, though the margin was narrow. The Warriors acquired Rony Seikaly from Miami Heat for Billy Owens; rights to Sasha Danilovic.

Dallas received 1996 first-round pick (protected lottery in 1996, top 6 in 1997, unprotected in 1998) (1997 #15-Kelvin Cato) from Minnesota Timberwolves and sent Sean Rooks in return.

New York Knicks captured the stronger long-term value in the 1994-10-13 transaction; Los Angeles Lakers' return of 1997 second-round pick (#53-Paul Rogers); 1998 second-round pick (protected) (not exercised) did not match Doug Christie.

Phoenix gained a slight long-term edge by turning Cedric Ceballos into the first-round pick used on Michael Finley, despite Ceballos’s All-Star season in Los Angeles.

Atlanta acquired Tyrone Corbin; 1995 second round pick (#57-Cuonzo Martin) from Jazz in exchange for Adam Keefe.

Charlotte acquired Michael Adams from Washington Bullets for 1996 second round pick (#55-Ronnie Henderson); 1997 second round pick (#48-Peja Drobnjak).

Detroit acquired Mark West from Phoenix for a 1996 second-round pick that became No. 39 Russ Millard and a conditional 1999 second-round pick that did not convey.

Orlando sent Scott Skiles and two firsts (Todd Fuller No. 11 in 1996 and Vince Carter No. 5 in 1998) to Washington for a 1996 second (Randy Livingston) and a 1998 first (Keon Clark No. 13).

Detroit acquired Eric Leckner from Philadelphia 76ers for 1996 or 1997 second round pick (1996 #48-Jamie Feick).

Detroit acquired rights to Bill Curley; 1997 second round pick (#31 – Charles O'Bannon) from San Antonio Spurs for Sean Elliott.

Indiana acquired Mark Jackson and the rights to Greg Minor for Pooh Richardson, Malik Sealy and the rights to Eric Piatkowski. Jackson became the organizing point guard for repeated conference-finals teams and the 2000 NBA Finals club, while the Clippers received useful players but no comparable franchise-defining role.

Boston acquired Derek Strong; Theodore Edwards from Bucks in exchange for Ed Pinckney; rights to Andrei Fetisov.

Golden State acquired 1995 second round pick (more favorable of 76ers, Bucks picks) (#40-Dwayne Whitfield) from Los Angeles Lakers for rights to Anthony Miller.

Minnesota acquired rights to Zeljko Rebraca while sending out 1996 second round pick (#35-Joe Blair) in the 1994-06-29 transaction with Sonics.

Atlanta acquired Ken Norman from Bucks in exchange for rights to Roy Hinson.

Atlanta traded Dominique Wilkins and a 1994 first-round pick (#25 Greg Minor) to the Clippers for Danny Manning.

Charlotte acquired Frank Brickowski from Milwaukee Bucks for Mike Gminski; 1997 first round pick (#20-Paul Grant).

Los Angeles Lakers received Danny Schayes. Milwaukee Bucks received 1995 conditional second round pick (if Schayes is on Lakers 1994-95 opening day roster) (not exercised).

On February 24, 1994, the Philadelphia 76ers acquired Jeff Malone and 1994 first round pick (#20-B.J. Tyler) from the Utah Jazz in exchange for Jeff Hornacek, Sean Green and 1995 second round pick (#33-Junior Burrough).

Chicago acquired Luc Longley, "possible future considerations" (1995 second round pick (#31-Dragan Tarlac)) from Timberwolves for Stacey King, producing a clear realized-value win.

Detroit acquired Pete Chilcutt; 1994 second round pick (#48 – Jevon Crudup); conditional first round pick (if it is #19 or better in 1994, 1995, or 1996, if #14 or better after that) (1999 #17-Cal Bowdler) from Sacramento Kings for Olden Polynice.

Milwaukee Bucks received Anthony Cook; 1994 first round pick (#18-Eric Mobley); 1995 second round pick (#38-Rashard Griffith). Orlando Magic received Anthony Avent.

Dallas received Tony Campbell; 1997 first-round pick (protected top 5 in 1997) (#25-John Thomas) from New York Knicks and sent Derek Harper in return.
