1994 NBA Trades

Washington acquired Chris Webber from Golden State for Tom Gugliotta and three first-round picks. Webber became a perennial All-Star and franchise centerpiece before later producing his best years in Sacramento.

On November 7, 1994, Atlanta sent Kevin Willis and a protected future first-rounder to Miami for Steve Smith, Grant Long and a conditional second. The first-round choice eventually became No. 19 in 1996, later associated with Walter McCarty. Both Smith and Long supplied Atlanta with multi-season roles, while Willis played for Miami and the future pick offered trade value. Hawks Win, Atlanta A and Miami B-.

The realized-value outcome leaned Warriors, though the margin was narrow. The Warriors acquired Rony Seikaly from Miami Heat for Billy Owens; rights to Sasha Danilovic.

Dallas received 1996 first-round pick (protected lottery in 1996, top 6 in 1997, unprotected in 1998) (1997 #15-Kelvin Cato) from Minnesota Timberwolves and sent Sean Rooks in return.

New York Knicks captured the stronger long-term value in the 1994-10-13 transaction; Los Angeles Lakers' return of 1997 second-round pick (#53-Paul Rogers); 1998 second-round pick (protected) (not exercised) did not match Doug Christie.

The Lakers acquired Cedric Ceballos from Phoenix on September 23, 1994 for a future first-round pick that became No. 21 Michael Finley in 1995. Both returns became unusually valuable. Ceballos averaged more than 21 points per game in each of his two full Lakers seasons, made the 1995 All-Star team, and was later part of the trade that brought Robert Horry to Los Angeles. Finley gave Phoenix an All-Rookie season and then became part of the December 1996 package that brought Jason Kidd to the Suns. With elite direct value and major downstream conversions on both sides, the source-backed result is Even Trade, A+/A+.

Atlanta acquired Tyrone Corbin and a 1995 second-round pick from Utah in September 1994, sending Adam Keefe to the Jazz. Corbin brought the Hawks defense and veteran forward minutes, while Keefe became a useful Utah frontcourt reserve during the Jazz's later Finals era. The inherited Hawks Win (B versus C-) prioritizes Corbin's Atlanta fit.

Charlotte acquired Michael Adams from Washington Bullets for 1996 second round pick (#55-Ronnie Henderson); 1997 second round pick (#48-Peja Drobnjak).

Detroit acquired Mark West from Phoenix for a 1996 second-round pick that became No. 39 Russ Millard and a conditional 1999 second-round pick that did not convey.

Washington acquired Scott Skiles and first-round rights later associated with Todd Fuller and Vince Carter from Orlando in July 1994. The Magic received a 1996 second and 1998 first later linked with Randy Livingston and Keon Clark. Skiles brought veteran playmaking to the Bullets, while Orlando created room to pursue a different roster. The inherited Wizards Win grades Washington A- and Orlando D.

Detroit acquired Eric Leckner from Philadelphia 76ers for 1996 or 1997 second round pick (1996 #48-Jamie Feick).

Detroit acquired rights to Bill Curley; 1997 second round pick (#31 – Charles O'Bannon) from San Antonio Spurs for Sean Elliott.

On July 18, 1994, Golden State sent injured guard Šarūnas Marčiulionis and Byron Houston to the Seattle SuperSonics for Ricky Pierce, the draft rights to No. 11 Carlos Rogers and two 1995 second-round picks that later became No. 50 Martin Lewis and No. 55 Michael McDonald. Rogers played 49 Warriors games with 18 starts in 1994-95 and Pierce contributed 27 appearances. Seattle received a returning veteran shooter and depth but Golden State's four assets offered greater breadth. Indiana acquired Mark Jackson and the rights to Greg Minor for Pooh Richardson, Malik Sealy and the rights to Eric Piatkowski. Jackson became the organizing point guard for repeated conference-finals teams and the 2000 NBA Finals club, while the Clippers received useful players but no comparable franchise-defining role.

Boston acquired Blue Edwards and Derek Strong from Milwaukee on June 29, 1994, sending Ed Pinckney and the rights to Andrei Fetisov. Edwards provided an experienced scoring wing and Strong another frontcourt option. Milwaukee received a veteran rebounder and draft rights to a big man who did not play for the Bucks in the NBA. Boston's incoming NBA depth underpins its B+ to Milwaukee's C+.

Los Angeles acquired rights to Anthony 'Pig' Miller from Golden State for a 1995 second-round pick after the 1994 draft. Miller played 73 Lakers games over two seasons, producing 225 points and 177 rebounds. Golden State selected Dwayne Whitfield at No. 40 with the pick; he never played for the Warriors but later formed one of five assets sent to Toronto for B.J. Armstrong. Seattle selected center Željko Rebrača at No. 54 in 1994 and sent his draft rights to Minnesota for a 1996 second-round pick, ultimately No. 35 Joe Blair. Rebrača remained overseas and made his NBA debut with Detroit in 2001, not Minnesota. Blair did not play a Seattle NBA regular-season game. Charlotte acquired Frank Brickowski from Milwaukee Bucks for Mike Gminski; 1997 first round pick (#20-Paul Grant).

Los Angeles acquired Danny Schayes from Milwaukee on February 24, 1994 for a conditional 1995 second-round choice. Schayes played 13 Lakers games in 1993-94, averaging 2.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in 10.2 minutes. The condition was not exercised under the imported archive record. On February 24, 1994, the Philadelphia 76ers acquired Jeff Malone and 1994 first round pick (#20-B.J. Tyler) from the Utah Jazz in exchange for Jeff Hornacek, Sean Green and 1995 second round pick (#33-Junior Burrough).

Chicago acquired Luc Longley, "possible future considerations" (1995 second round pick (#31-Dragan Tarlac)) from Timberwolves for Stacey King, producing a clear realized-value win.

Detroit acquired Pete Chilcutt; 1994 second round pick (#48 – Jevon Crudup); conditional first round pick (if it is #19 or better in 1994, 1995, or 1996, if #14 or better after that) (1999 #17-Cal Bowdler) from Sacramento Kings for Olden Polynice.

Milwaukee Bucks received Anthony Cook; 1994 first round pick (#18-Eric Mobley); 1995 second round pick (#38-Rashard Griffith). Orlando Magic received Anthony Avent.
