New England moved down and selected Devin McCourty, a long-term captain and centerpiece of three Super Bowl champions, while also receiving a third-round pick. Both teams converted the exchange into a franchise-defining player.

Miami moved up seven spots in the fourth round for linebacker A.J. Edds, surrendering picks used on Akwasi Owusu-Ansah and Sam Young.
