Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers Win Tier: major
Confidence: high
San Diego traded linebacker Bob Babich and a 1975 fourth-round pick to Cleveland for the 1974 first-round selection used on Don Goode and the 1975 second-round selection used on Louie Kelcher. Babich became a six-year Browns regular, so Cleveland received legitimate value. Kelcher, however, became a Chargers Hall of Famer and one of the franchise's best defensive linemen, giving San Diego the stronger return.
San Francisco 49ers acquired Louie Kelcher from Los Angeles Chargers for 1984 eighth round pick (#219-Bob Craighead / Bobby Craighead); 1984 twelfth round pick (#331-Paine Harper); 1985 conditional ninth round pick (#252-Dan Remsberg). The available record does not show enough separation to call a clear long-term winner.
