1974 sixth round pick (#136-Randy Crowder)
Miami acquired Don Nottingham and a 1974 sixth-round pick from Baltimore for Hubert Ginn on October 2, 1973. Nottingham became a five-season Dolphins contributor and scored 25 rushing touchdowns from 1974 through 1977, while the pick became Randy Crowder. Ginn played only nine games for Baltimore before returning to Miami, producing a decisive Dolphins win.
2009 5th round pick (165th overall, Chris Clemons)
Miami moved down five spots in the second round and added a fifth-rounder, selecting Sean Smith at No. 61 and Chris Clemons at No. 165. Smith became a four-year starting corner for the Dolphins, while Clemons developed into a regular starter at safety. Indianapolis got useful defensive tackle Fili Moala at No. 56, but Miami created more total starting value from the two-player return.
Indianapolis acquired cornerback Vontae Davis from Miami for a 2013 second-round pick, with a conditional late-round selection included in the terms but ultimately not conveyed. Davis became a centerpiece of the Colts secondary and earned consecutive Pro Bowl selections in 2014 and 2015. Miami used the second-rounder on Jamar Taylor, who never matched Davis's impact for the Dolphins. Indianapolis received the premium player and clearly won the exchange.
Miami acquired interior lineman Evan Boehm and a 2020 seventh-round pick from Indianapolis for a 2020 sixth-round selection shortly before the 2019 season. Boehm appeared in 13 games and started eight for the Dolphins, giving a rebuilding offensive line immediate veteran help. Indianapolis improved its draft position, but Miami received the more substantial direct football contribution.
