That is a meaningful premium for a seven-slot move, so the trade required Collins to become far more than an ordinary starter.
He did. Collins started immediately and broke out in his second season, earning first-team All-Pro honors in 2016 after recording 125 tackles, five interceptions, four sacks and 13 passes defensed. He made three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2016 through 2018 and became the centerpiece of a Giants defense that helped the team reach the playoffs in 2016. His Giants tenure lasted four seasons before he left in free agency, but the peak was elite.
