New York moved Joe Dawkins and Dave Simonson to Houston in August 1976 for the 1977 seventh-round pick used on Al Dixon and another undisclosed selection, possibly the 1978 choice used on Rich Martini. Dawkins contributed only a limited final NFL season for Houston, while Dixon gave the Giants several seasons of service. New York receives a B- to Houston's C-.

New York traded running back Butch Woolfolk to Houston on March 21, 1985, for the third-round selection at No. 58 that became Tyrone Davis. Davis appeared in only seven NFL games, while Woolfolk immediately produced a major 1985 season for the Oilers. The draft return was legitimate, but the realized value strongly favored Houston.

Shockey became a four-time Pro Bowler for the Giants and produced 371 receptions, 4,228 yards and 27 touchdowns. Tennessee stayed one spot lower and landed Albert Haynesworth plus Mike Echols.

Collins became a three-time Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro during four seasons in New York. Tennessee used the return on Dorial Green-Beckham, Jalston Fowler and Tre McBride; all contributed to varying degrees, but none approached Collins' peak or importance.
