San Diego acquired linebacker Tim Rossovich from Philadelphia in 1972 for its 1973 first-round pick. Philadelphia ultimately used the No. 6 selection on USC tight end Charle Young, who became an immediate Pro Bowl player and a major piece of the Eagles’ offense for several seasons.

Los Angeles sent guard Dan Nugent to Washington for future second- and third-round selections in the 1980 draft. The second-rounder became No. 50 Irv Pankey, who played 144 games and started 117 for the Rams. With another third-round asset also included, Los Angeles turned one useful lineman into far greater long-term roster value.

Los Angeles acquired the rights to tight end Charle Young by sending the rights to quarterback Ron Jaworski to Philadelphia.
