San Diego acquired linebacker Tim Rossovich from Philadelphia in 1972 for its 1973 first-round pick. Philadelphia ultimately used the No. 6 selection on USC tight end Charle Young, who became an immediate Pro Bowl player and a major piece of the Eagles’ offense for several seasons.

Young had already been a productive Eagle, but his Rams stay did not approach the franchise-changing value Jaworski delivered in Philadelphia. The Rams received a legitimate veteran, yet surrendering a decade-long Eagles starter makes this a clear loss in hindsight.
