Minnesota moved up two spots in the 2004 second round for linebacker Dontarrious Thomas, sending New Orleans picks 50 and 151 for No. 48. Thomas became a useful multi-year Viking, but the Saints selected Devery Henderson at 50 and later used pick 151 in another trade that helped add 2005 second-round capital. Henderson’s long tenure and championship-era production give New Orleans the stronger return.

Washington moved up in the 2004 third round for tight end Chris Cooley and also received a fifth-round pick, while New Orleans acquired a fifth-rounder that became Rodney Leisle plus Washington's 2005 second-round pick, used on Josh Bullocks. Cooley developed into a two-time Pro Bowler and one of Washington's most productive tight ends, giving Washington the better return.
