2007 NBA Trades

On December 29, 2007, the Philadelphia 76ers acquired Gordan Giriček and 2009 first round pick (less favorable of Jazz, Knicks picks) (protected top 22 in 2009, top 15 in 2010, top 17 in 2011, top 16 in 2012, top 16 in 2013, else 2014 second round pick, $1.15M cash) (2010 #23-Trevor Booker) from the Utah Jazz in exchange for Kyle Korver.

Charlotte acquired Nazr Mohammed from Detroit Pistons for Primoz Brezec; Walter Herrmann.

Los Angeles clearly won by acquiring Trevor Ariza for Brian Cook and Maurice Evans, adding a championship-caliber wing at a limited cost.

The Nets acquired David Wesley from Hornets in exchange for Bernard Robinson; Mile Ilic; cash.

Minnesota acquired Beno Udrih; cash while sending out 2008 second round pick (top 57 protected) (not exercised) in the 2007-10-29 transaction with Spurs.

Ricky Davis and Mark Blount supplied short-term production, but the protected first-round pick Miami surrendered became the most valuable long-term asset in the deal.

The long-term outcome favored New York Knicks; Los Angeles Clippers' return led by cash did not match the value it surrendered.

New Orleans acquired David Wesley; cash from Cleveland Cavaliers for Cedric Simmons.

Dallas received Trenton Hassell from Minnesota Timberwolves and sent Greg Buckner in return.

Denver received Steven Hunter; Bobby Jones from Philadelphia 76ers, sending Reggie Evans; rights to Ricky Sanchez in return.

Memphis received rights to Juan Carlos Navarro for a first-round pick (protected top 19 in 2008, top 16 in 2009, top 14 in 2010-12, top 12 in 2013, else 2014 second-round pick, $1M cash) (2010 #12-Xavier Henry). The completed outcome is close enough to support an even evaluation.

Boston acquired Kevin Garnett from Minnesota for Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, two 2009 first-round picks and cash. Garnett won Defensive Player of the Year and helped the Celtics win the 2008 championship, reach the 2010 Finals and sustain a six-year contender. Minnesota received a legitimate rebuilding package led by Jefferson but did not create comparable team success.

Seattle absorbed Kurt Thomas and received two Phoenix first-round picks, including the 2008 selection used on Serge Ibaka.

Houston acquired the rights to Luis Scola and Jackie Butler from San Antonio for the rights to Vassilis Spanoulis and a future second-round pick. Scola immediately became a productive starter, made the All-Rookie team and supplied five seasons of reliable scoring and rebounding.

On July 11, 2007, the Phoenix Suns acquired $3M cash from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for James Jones; rights to Rudy Fernandez.

Orlando acquired Rashard Lewis in a 2007 sign-and-trade for a protected second-round pick and a large trade exception. Lewis became an All-Star and a central spacer on the 2009 Finals team. Seattle used the exception days later to absorb Kurt Thomas and obtain two first-round picks, including the selection used on Serge Ibaka. Both organizations converted the mechanism into major value.

Boston acquired Ray Allen; rights to Glen Davis from Sonics in exchange for Wally Szczerbiak; Delonte West; rights to Jeff Green; 2008 second-round pick (#46 Trent Plaisted).

Charlotte acquired Jason Richardson; rights to Jermareo Davidson from Golden State Warriors for rights to Brandan Wright.

Dallas received draft rights to Reyshawn Terry from Orlando Magic and sent draft rights to Milovan Rakovic; cash in return.

The partner finished with a modest edge. The Warriors acquired rights to Brandan Wright from Charlotte Hornets for Jason Richardson; rights to Jermareo Davidson.

The realized return strongly favored Houston: Houston received 2007 second-round pick (#54-Brad Newley) from Orlando Magic for cash.

Buying the rights to Carl Landry was a strong Houston win.

The 2007-06-28 trade leans slightly toward Miami Heat, though Indiana received useful value led by rights to Stanko Barac.

Philadelphia 76ers held the better side in the 2007-06-28 transaction with Miami, which received rights to Daequan Cook; 2009 second-round pick (#45-Nick Calathes); cash for rights to Jason Smith.

New York acquired Zach Randolph; Fred Jones; Dan Dickau; rights to Demetris Nichols from Blazers for Steve Francis; Channing Frye; 2008 second round pick (#36-Omer Asik). Both sides realized enough value that a decisive winner would overstate the result.

On June 28, 2007, San Antonio Spurs acquired 2008 second round pick (#45-Goran Dragic) from Toronto Raptors in exchange for rights to Giorgos Printezis.

Detroit came out slightly ahead, acquiring 2009 second round pick (#39 – Jonas Jerebko), 2011 second round pick (#33 – Kyle Singler) for Carlos Delfino.

The long-term result was ultimately favorable to Wolves: Houston received Mike James (Lamont); Justin Reed from Minnesota Timberwolves for Juwan Howard.

Atlanta acquired Anthony Johnson from Mavericks in exchange for 2007 second round pick (#34-Nick Fazekas).

On February 22, 2007, the Philadelphia 76ers acquired 76ers' right to swap 2007 second round picks (not exercised) and cash from the Utah Jazz in exchange for Alan Henderson and 76ers' right to swap second round picks (not exercised).

On February 22, 2007, Portland acquired Fred Jones; future considerations from Toronto Raptors in exchange for Juan Dixon.

Charlotte acquired Eric Williams; 2009 second round pick (less favorable of Hornets, Spurs picks) (#54-Robert Vaden); $1M cash from San Antonio Spurs for Melvin Ely.

The long-term result was ultimately favorable to Grizzlies: Houston received Jake Tsakalidis from Memphis Grizzlies for Scott Padgett.

Golden State acquired Stephen Jackson, Al Harrington, Šarūnas Jasikevičius and Josh Powell for Mike Dunleavy, Troy Murphy, Ike Diogu and Keith McLeod, reshaping the roster that produced the “We Believe” upset.

Denver acquired Steve Blake from Milwaukee Bucks for Earl Boykins; Julius Hodge; $700K cash.

The Nets acquired Bernard Robinson from Bobcats in exchange for Jeff McInnis; cash.
