Chicago received Michael Carter-Williams for Tony Snell, but the partner generated modestly stronger realized value.

Milwaukee acquired forward Michael Beasley from Houston for reserve guard Tyler Ennis on September 22, 2016. Beasley contributed 56 regular-season Bucks games, six starts, 935 minutes and 528 points at 53.2 percent shooting; he also appeared in four playoff games. Ennis played 31 games and 196 minutes for Houston before moving to the Lakers, scoring 58 points. Bucks Win, Milwaukee B+, Houston D+.

Denver received second-round pick (protected top 35 in 2017, unprotected in 2018) (2017 #49-Vlatko Cancar); second-round pick (protected top 35 in 2017, unprotected in 2018) (2017 #51-Monte Morris) from Oklahoma City Thunder, sending Joffrey Lauvergne in return.

On August 26, 2016, Philadelphia traded Kendall Marshall to Utah for Tibor Pleiss and two future second-round picks, used in 2017 on Jonah Bolden at No. 36 and Alpha Kaba at No. 60. Both incoming veterans were waived without playing for their new teams; Bolden later appeared in 48 regular-season games for Philadelphia. 76ers Win, Philadelphia B, Utah C.

Cleveland exchanged Sasha Kaun and cash for rights to Chukwudiebere Maduabum / Chu Chu Maduabum, with a narrow realized-value edge to 76ers.

Los Angeles Clippers earned a modest hindsight edge over Orlando Magic in the 2016-07-15 exchange, with Devyn Marble; 2020 second-round pick (#32-Vernon Carey Jr.) providing the better overall return.

Charlotte acquired cash; traded player exception from Memphis Grizzlies for Troy Daniels.

Miami held the better side in the 2016-07-10 transaction with New Orleans Pelicans, receiving Luke Babbitt for 2018 second-round pick (#51-Tony Carr); cash.

The Nets acquired rights to Caris LeVert; second-round pick (protected #45, 60 in 2017-22, unprotected in 2023) (2021 #44, Kessler Edwards) from Pacers in exchange for Thaddeus Young.

In July 2016 Atlanta received the draft rights to Taurean Prince, Indiana acquired Jeff Teague, and Utah received George Hill in a three-team guard-and-draft exchange. The deal provided Atlanta with a developing wing, Indiana with a proven playmaking guard, and Utah with a veteran floor general. The inherited slight Hawks edge assigns Atlanta A-, Indiana B+ and Utah B+.

Charlotte acquired Marco Belinelli from Sacramento Kings for rights to Malachi Richardson.

Chicago received rights to Ater Majok for Jose Calderon, 2018 second round pick (#47-Svi Mykhailiuk), 2019 second round pick (#34-Bruno Fernando), but the partner generated modestly stronger realized value.

Chicago received rights to Albert Miralles for Mike Dunleavy Jr., rights to Vladimir Veremeenko, but the partner generated modestly stronger realized value.

Bucks Win. Dellavedova gave Milwaukee immediate NBA rotation value at guard and remained useful long enough to justify the mechanism of the sign-and-trade. Cleveland's incoming draft rights never produced comparable NBA value. Cleveland's context was constrained because Dellavedova had agreed to a new contract with Milwaukee. The Cavaliers were not choosing between equal offers; the sign-and-trade allowed them to recover a small asset rather than lose the player for nothing.

Dallas received Andrew Bogut; 2020 second-round pick (#31-Tyrell Terry) from Golden State Warriors and sent 2019 second-round pick (protected top 55) (not exercised); traded player exception in return.

Dallas received draft rights to Stanko Barac from Indiana Pacers and sent Jeremy Evans; draft rights to Emir Preldžic; cash considerations in return.

Orlando acquired cash considerations from Portland Trail Blazers for Shabazz Napier.

On July 7, 2016, San Antonio Spurs acquired rights to Olivier Hanlan; traded player exception from Utah Jazz in exchange for Boris Diaw; 2022 second round pick (#39-Khalifa Diop); cash considerations.

On July 7, 2016, Washington Wizards acquired Trey Burke from Utah Jazz in exchange for 2021 second round pick (#43-Greg Brown III).

Detroit acquired 2019 conditional second round pick (less favorable of (a) Blazers pick and (b) most favorable of Cavaliers; Magic; Rockets picks) (#56 – Jaylen Hands) from Orlando Magic for Jodie Meeks.

Cleveland acquired the draft rights to diminutive point guard Kay Felder from Atlanta in June 2016 in exchange for cash. Felder joined the Cavaliers' roster during their championship-defense season, though his role was limited. Atlanta preferred a direct financial return to carrying another developmental guard. The inherited Even Trade assigns C to both franchises.

The Nets acquired rights to Isaiah Whitehead from Jazz in exchange for rights to Marcus Paige; $3M cash.

Boston sent the draft rights to Deyonta Davis and Rade Zagorac to Memphis on June 23, 2016, for a protected future first that eventually became the 2019 No. 20 selection used on Matisse Thybulle. Memphis signed and played Davis, while Boston later routed the Thybulle rights to Philadelphia in a separate 2019 trade. Boston's gain was draft flexibility, not a Celtics Thybulle playing career.

Denver acquired $730K cash from Oklahoma City Thunder for rights to Daniel Hamilton.

Golden State realized the stronger long-term return. The Warriors acquired rights to Patrick McCaw from Milwaukee Bucks for $2.4M cash.

The Clippers traded the rights to No. 33 Cheick Diallo to New Orleans on June 23, 2016 for No. 39 David Michineau and No. 40 Diamond Stone. Diallo supplied 133 Pelicans regular-season games and 1,676 minutes between 2016 and 2019. Stone played just seven Clippers games and 24 minutes, while Michineau never joined the Clippers' NBA regular-season roster. Pelicans Win, New Orleans B+ and Los Angeles D+.

Oklahoma City traded Serge Ibaka to Orlando for Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova and the draft rights to Domantas Sabonis, then used Oladipo and Sabonis to acquire Paul George one year later.

Phoenix traded the rights to Bogdan Bogdanovic, the No. 13 and No. 28 picks in the 2016 draft and a future second-round choice to Sacramento for the rights to No. 8 pick Marquese Chriss. Chriss started 124 games across two Suns seasons and made the 2017 All-Rookie Second Team, but Phoenix moved him after only 154 games. Sacramento received three seasons and 209 games from Bogdanovic, 106 games from Skal Labissiere and 38 from Georgios Papagiannis, giving the Kings the stronger aggregate return.

On June 23, 2016, Portland acquired rights to Jake Layman from Orlando Magic in exchange for 2019 second round pick (#56-Jaylen Hands); $1.2M cash.

Chicago received Robin Lopez, Jerian Grant, Jose Calderon for Derrick Rose, Justin Holiday, 2017 second round pick (#44-Damyean Dotson), but the partner generated modestly stronger realized value.

Chicago exchanged Cameron Bairstow for Spencer Dinwiddie in a transaction with broadly balanced realized value.

Utah acquired Shelvin Mack in a February 2016 three-team trade that sent Kirk Hinrich to Atlanta and Justin Holiday plus a future second-round selection to Chicago. Mack stepped into a useful backcourt role for the Jazz while the other clubs received shorter-term guard options and draft flexibility. The inherited Jazz Win grades Utah B+, Atlanta C- and Chicago D.

Cleveland added shooting forward Channing Frye at the February 2016 deadline as part of a three-team deal. Orlando acquired Jared Cunningham; Portland accepted Anderson Varejão and a protected future first-round selection. Frye became a useful Cavaliers reserve on the team that won the 2016 championship. The inherited Cavaliers Win grades Cleveland B+ and both Orlando and Portland B-.

Denver received D.J. Augustine; Steve Novak; 2016 second-round pick (protected #56-60 in 2016, unprotected in 2017) (2016 #53-Petr Cornelie); 2016 second-round pick (#56-Daniel Hamilton); and 1 additional asset from Oklahoma City Thunder, sending Randy Foye in return.

Memphis Grizzlies won the 2016-02-18 trade in hindsight: Los Angeles Clippers' return of Jeff Green did not match the realized value of Lance Stephenson; first-round pick (at least 2 years after Clippers convey first-round pick to Raptors from earlier trade) (protected top 14 in 2019-20, else 2022 second-round pick) (2019 #20-Matisse Thybulle).

Miami and New Orleans Pelicans produced a stronger realized return for Pelicans in the 2016-02-18 exchange: 2018 second-round pick (protected top 55, subsequent trade of this pick back to Pelicans effectively removed protection) (#51-Tony Carr) for Jarnell Stokes; $700K cash.

Miami and Portland Trail Blazers produced broadly comparable realized value in the 2016-02-18 exchange: cash considerations for Brian Roberts; 2021 second-round pick (#48-Sharife Cooper).

Charlotte added Courtney Lee and cash in a February 2016 three-team trade that sent P.J. Hairston and second-round rights to Memphis and Brian Roberts to Miami. The Grizzlies acquired Chris Andersen alongside Hairston and the picks. Lee provided perimeter defense and shooting for the Hornets, while Memphis and Miami accepted different guard and frontcourt options. The inherited slight Grizzlies edge grades Memphis B, Miami B and Charlotte C+.

On February 11, 2016, the Phoenix Suns acquired Kris Humphries; DeJuan Blair; first-round pick (protected top 9 in 2016-21) (2016 #13-Georgios Papagiannis) from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Markieff Morris.

On January 22, 2016, the Clippers traded Josh Smith back to Houston along with cash and the rights to Sergei Lishchuk for the Rockets' draft rights to Maarty Leunen. Smith had appeared in 32 Clippers games that season but played 23 regular-season games for Houston after his return. Neither Lishchuk nor Leunen became an NBA regular for the receiving team. The Rockets obtained a short-term playing contributor for rights they could relinquish, whereas the Clippers largely cleared a role and roster space. Slight Rockets Edge, Houston B-, Clippers C-.

Cleveland exchanged Joe Harris and 2017 second round pick (protected top 55) (not exercised) for 2020 second round pick (protected top 55) (not exercised), with the realized return ultimately favorable to Cavaliers.
